State Representative Dave Winters Kicked off
Business Tour 08!

The importance of business is well known throughout the office of State Representative Dave Winters! That is why Representative Winters has contacted and planned tours of many local businesses to hear the concerns of the owners, managers, and employees of Illinois.

With unemployment rates on the rise, the State Senate passing increases in income tax, and the ever looming rumors of a recession on the way for America – District 68 needs to voice their opinions and let the representative know what is wrong and what is right with the area’s businesses.

On our calendar so far:

Dial Machine (Rockford) – March 10th, House Republican Leader Tom Cross, Assistant Republican Leaders Mark Beaubien and Dave Winters, as well as Representative Ron Wait held a press conference advocating for the much needed capital construction plan, industry investments in road, bridges, transit, schools, and state facilities. Paperchine, Inc (South Beloit) – March 18th, Representative Winters visited, toured and wishes a Happy 8th Anniversary to Paperchine. Vice President of Operations Dan Morris conveyed his concerns with the decrease in American jobs within the entire manufacturing industry. Also, Representative Winters addressed Mr. Morris’ desire for potential state and federal grant money to help facilitate the purchase of a planar mill from Pennsylvania by networking him with Illinois' Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Anderson Packaging (Rockford) – March 19th, Larry Beckman, President of Anderson Packaging, discussed his concerns within the slowing economy and lead a wide-ranging discussion with other Anderson Packagin leaders.

Three Hammer Construction, Inc – March 20th, Merle Hammack of Three Hammer Construction spoke about his concerns within the construction industry caused by the housing recession.

Chemtool – March 22nd, The Representative met with ChemTool owner, Jim Athans, and discussed the possibility of assisting in the creation of jobs in the Rockton/ South Beloit area as Athans plans on opening his corporate headquarters and bring in the upwards of 500 new jobs.
