               Three Hammer Construction was the next stop Thursday, March 20th, for State Representative Dave Winters’ business tour. Since 1973, Three Hammer Construction has been established in the Rockford, Roscoe, and surrounding areas. Working with their suppliers and subcontractors, they offer quality workmanship for home buyers.

               Three Hammer Construction has a large facility, which contains their own lumberyard and several model rooms. In the latter potential home buyers can visualize their home by touring model kitchens, bathrooms, and living rooms. Merle Hammack, an owner of Three Hammer Construction, said that the only difference between a normal house and a quality house is around $4,000. For example, by paying an extra $50 for a properly working faucet or the extra for a quality floor, these features create a long-lasting, enjoyable home.

               Eco-friendly features have quickly turned into popular attributes as well. While Three Hammer Construction offers this amenity through a tighter house ‘envelope.’ The consumer should think clearly about these options, however. If the house is two closely sealed, expensive air exchanges must also be installed, which have short lives before replacement, and the energy savings are used up in replacement costs.
              
               The intricacies of the residential construction industry were widely discussed. The effect of the housing downturn on Three Hammer employment has been profound, but the turnaround of the industry is probable, letting consumers start to reinvest in the housing arena.
